Ginger + lemon tea
In Natural Medicine, ginger is used as a potent detoxifying and antiviral herb that helps the body get rid of toxins, stimulate circulation and boost your immune system. It’s regarded as a natural antibiotic for the body and helps to reduce congestion and mucous production.
I’ve been making this delicious tea for many years and always have a large 1 litre pot sitting at my work desk most mornings. My great Aunt used to give me ginger and lemon tea when I used to get sick as a young girl to help ease my chest infections and fight the flu. When I drink it, it warms me up inside and helps me relax and I also feel a whole lot better after drinking it.
During the warmer months, I’ll just brew up a large pot or plunger and allow it to cool then enjoy chilled with a little ice and fresh squeezed lemon. Lemon is great mixed with the tea as it adds a lovely freshness and helps with the detoxification process. Forget the tea bags, use the real deal and make this wonderful ginger and lemon tea yourself from scratch.
Makes 1 litre
1 whole lemon
2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger root
Combine lemon juice and fresh grated ginger into a plunger or large tea pot.
Boil water and pour into the pot over the ginger and lemon, making sure to fill all the way up.
Mix it a little with a spoon and allow the ginger to infuse into the water. This should take about 5 minutes.
Press the plunger down if using a plunger then fill your tea cup.
Sip slowly and enjoy.

I make a fairly potent brew of ginger and lemon tea, but I also add garlic and chilli or horseraddish when I have a cold. The garlic spoils the taste but Manuka honey improves it. When I take it at the first hint of a cold, it seems to keep it away.
Will this work without the lemon or do you have suggest to replace the lemon. I have acid reflux and citrus makes it worse. I like the idea and love ginger.
This is also very delicious without lemon Maryann ! You can just use ginger and that’s it !
I loved this. Will make many times a week for sure
