My Top 5 Beauty Boosting Recipes

Article title image

You don’t need fake bronzer or anti-ageing pills for gorgeous skin and a healthy body. For me, beauty comes from the food you eat as well as your lifestyle.

Eating your way to glowing skin and a beautiful body is really simple. As long as you include antioxidant rich leafy greens, good fats and protein in your diet, you’ll be getting the nutrients to give strength and structure to your skin to help it glow, and the fuel your body needs for youthful energy and vitality.

Here are my top five beauty-boosting recipes using nourishing wholefoods:

1. BEAUTY BOOSTING VITALITY SALAD WITH FIGS AND POMEGRANATE

This salad is rich in alkalising greens and folate to boost your metabolism and help to nourish a dewy and glowing complexion. Pomegranate is high in vitamin C to aid collagen production and it supports healthy heart function by reducing blood pressure and inflammation in the body. Figs add a natural sweetness and are great for supporting cardiovascular health.

2.  DETOX VEGETABLE CURRY

Full of enzyme rich vegetables that aid the cleansing and detoxification process, this healthy curry is bursting with colour, flavour and nutrients. The aromatic flavours of the curry paste will stimulate the circulation and boost metabolism. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, responsible for the distinct yellow colouring and the impressive list of health properties. Turmeric has been linked to the prevention of cancer cell growth and management of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, asthma, eczema and inflammatory bowel disease. Ginger has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It helps to boost immune function and combat cellular damage. Black pepper contains an active ingredient called piperline that is known to enhance digestion and work as an anti-inflammatory.

Green superfoods such as kale and spinach help to increase alkalinity and detoxification in your body that can promote healing. They are also rich in vitamins A, C and K and folic acid, as well as calcium, potassium, copper and iron. These nutrients are necessary for healthy bones, skin and eyes. Mung beans are a great source of protein making them the perfect food for vegetarians or anyone wanting to eat a healthy plant based diet.  The mung bean is rich in lycine, an essential amino acid and building block of protein that helps with the building of lean muscle. Orange is a great source of vitamin C and fibre that can nourish your immune system as well as aid iron absorption from the green superfoods.

4. BEAUTIFYING FACIAL MASK

As well as nourishing my body with fresh wholefoods, I love to feed my skin with this anti-ageing mask using matcha. This antioxidant rich highly concentrated green tea is loaded with health benefits to keep you youthful and energised. Matcha has the ability to boost your immunity, control your stress and even assist in weight loss. One serve of matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of steeped green tea.
