A SUPER SMOOTHIE FOR GLOWING SKIN

The secret to glowing skin is simple, eat lots and fruits and vegetables and make sure you are feeding it with antioxidants, healthy fats and protein to nourish your body from the inside out. As an additional benefit, you’ll also do wonders for the rest of your body such as lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, improve memory + concentration, reduce stress and basically feel amazing!

WHAT’S GREAT ABOUT IT:

This smoothie is perfect to flush out all toxins and boost you body PH levels. The fibre in this smoothie helps to promote gut function and peristalsis. A diet high in fibre has been shown to help regulate blood sugars, reduce cholesterol and promote satiety – i.e. keeps you feeling full for longer. This is great for maintaining your energy levels and a healthy weight. Lemon and oranges are rich in vitamin C that helps boost immune function and healthy collagen production needed for glowing skin and hair. Leafy greens such as spinach, wheatgrass and cos lettuce are high in chlorophyll and minerals which are a vital for health and wellbeing. Adding a spoonful of protein powder will make this a complete healthy meal replacement.

ingredients (Serves 1-2)

2 handfuls green organic baby spinach, washed
6 baby cos lettuce leaves, washed
2 medium sized orange, peeled
Juice from 1/2 lemon
2 cups of water, depending on how you want your consistency
1/2  teaspoon Organic Wheatgrass
1 tablespoon Protein Powder
1 cup of ice

method

  1. COMBINE spinach, cos lettuce, oranges, lemon, water and wheatgrass.
  2. ADD ice if you want a cool refreshing smoothie as well as the protein.
  3. BLEND for about 15 seconds until smooth.
  4. POUR into 2 large glasses and enjoy.
  5. LEFTOVERS can be kept in the fridge for the next day or to enjoy as a healthy snack.
