We’re well into spring, and many of us have goals to improve our health + wellbeing in some way or another – but did you know that all good health starts by having a healthy digestive system?

I believe that food is most healing to the gut when it is close to it’s original state and has the properties to nourish and repair. ON RISING: Wheatgrass juice
Cold-Pressed Wheat Grass juice is one of the most nutritionally dense greens on earth. LUNCH: Kale + Spinach Detox Salad
Green superfoods such as kale and spinach help

They are also rich in vitamins A, C and K and folic acid, as well as calcium, potassium, copper and iron. These nutrients are necessary for healthy bones, skin and eyes. Orange is a great source of vitamin C and fibre that can nourish your immune system as well as aid iron absorption from the green super foods. Garlic, turmeric and ginger also help to stimulate the circulation, reduce inflammation and aid digestion and elimination.
AFTERNOON: Goodness Shake
This shake is pure liquid nourishment. A delicious protein-filled drink, you can easily incorporate into your daily diet. Protein will help support recovery, detoxification and nourish your immune system. I’ve including Healthy Chef protein (both pea or WPI are great) because they are both isolates and specifically designed for people with gastrointestinal issues. All I do is blend 1 ½ cups filtered water or nut milk with 2 tablespoons Healthy Chef protein (Pure Native WPI or Organic Pea Protein) for pure protein goodness.
DINNER: Zucchini Fritters
I absolutely love this recipe, not only because it tastes so good, but because I can instantly feel the goodness and the benefit to my body. Studies show that the health benefits from following a diet that focuses on a daily intake of vegetables include weight loss; diabetes control; lowered insulin secretion; improved sports performance; and reduced risk for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and cancer. These veggies act like pre-biotic in the digestive system that help to stimulate the favourable growth and activity of the good probiotic bacteria.
EVENING: Relax + Renew Tea
After a long day and hectic schedule I love nothing more than to unwind with a good cup of tea. This is the very reason why I absolutely love Healthy Chef Relax + Renew. Drinking this tea helps reduce stress, calms the nerves and promotes a good night’s sleep.
