Your 5 Most Loved Posts Of 2016

While it’s that time of the year for wrapping gifts and planning festivities, I like to think it’s also the perfect time to sit and reflect on the past year.

I want to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU for all those who have supported The Healthy Chef this year.

It’s been a rollercoaster ride to say the least – we moved into our new offices in Surry Hills, launched our organic tea range, held several cooking masterclasses and high tea events and produced my new cookbook which is due to come out next year.

In gratitude, we have also launched The Healthy Chef Loyalty Rewards Program, which I hope you will enjoy for many years to come.

Over the next few busy weeks, I hope you have time to sit and relax and enjoy some time to yourself.  To help with this, I've gathered the top posts you might have missed for your leisure reading. Enjoy!

1. HOW TO HEAL YOUR GUT

Feed your gut well, and your health  will thrive, but feed it with the wrong types of foods and you compromise your body’s ability to promote growth and repair, support your immune system and keep your muscles and organs healthy.

2. A GREEN SMOOTHIE THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

This green smoothie tastes delicious, is simple to make and is loaded with nutrients that contribute to glowing skin and endless energy.

Leafy greens such as spinach, wheatgrass and cos lettuce are high in minerals and are alkalising to the body. They also have rich concentrations of chlorophyll to help detoxify the liver. READ MORE.

3. FEEL GOOD FOODS TO FIGHT STRESS

Stress  can lead to a suppressed  immune response, sleep problems, unwanted weight gain and blood sugar abnormalities. My advice is to ensure you’re eating the right wholefoods  that are high in health-promoting benefits.

Protein is an essential nutrient to help your body cope with high stress levels by stabilising blood sugar spikes, reducing mood swings, jitteriness and improving sleep. READ MORE.

4. WHY PROTEIN HELPS WITH WEIGHT LOSS

Protein is also the key nutrient that helps you get ageless glowing skin and lean toned muscles.

Protein can work effectively to regulate the appetite, increase satiety and encourage significant weight loss. For weight loss, it is recommended you get between 80 – 120 g of protein per day to aid satiety and repair. READ MORE.

5. THE SECRET TO ANTI-AGEING

If I could bottle up my own magic pill for youthful skin and an ageless body, matcha green tea would be my main ingredient. This is because matcha green tea is brimming with powerful antioxidants and anti-ageing properties – even more than pomegranates and blueberries – the Chinese have coined it “the elixir of immortality”.

High antioxidant rich foods such as Matcha green tea are believed to slow down the ageing process by preventing oxidation, inhibiting mutation of DNA and helping to restore damaged DNA.  READ MORE.
