My Top Five Strategies for Success

  • By
  • Teresa Cutter

I created The Healthy Chef brand out of pure passion. My love of good food and seeking better health for myself, and for the ones I love, were the main driving forces in what I create and wake up for every day.

Working on my personal development and a healthy work life balance has been key to building and expanding the Healthy Chef brand. I thought I would share my top strategies for success this week, in proud recognition of being inducted into the 2017 Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame.

1. Do something you are PASSIONATE about.

I think I was always passionate about cooking and health. My original inspiration was my great Polish aunt who continues to be a big influence on how I cook today.

I loved how she used the simplicity of fresh, natural wholefoods to create purely delicious meals. She also taught me about the value of good food and the benefits to your body which will show through your skin, hair and overall health. This is why I believe that health comes first, so our products are specifically designed to be as pure as nature intended. They are made in Australia from the finest wholefood ingredients and are free from gluten, fillers, gums and sugars. I strive for simplicity and to inspire, nourish and delight.

I believe when you do something you are passionate about, the right opportunities, network of people and events will come to you. It’s up to you to make the most of it and always improve on what you have to offer so you can produce the best result or outcome every time.

2. Be PERSISTENT and never give up.

There have been many times I thought partnering up with a big publisher would go ahead, or that a company deal would bring in lots of exposure and sales to the Healthy Chef, but it hasn’t always been the case.

My approach for these setbacks can be summed up with a wise saying, “If at first, you don’t succeed; try and try again.” When someone tells me NO, it makes me even more determined to succeed! If the doors are closed, bang a hole in the wall and build a new one where you have the key.

3. Be PATIENT.

I admit, patience is something I have had to work on, as I’m very impatient. But I’ve come to realise that sometimes certain goals do take a little longer to achieve than others.

Also, I’ve come to realise that you can make patience work for you. By seeing how others have done something that you want to do, you can either look at it or say, “Shouldn’t I be doing this right now?” or “How can I do that but even better?” It might take time to do something you can see your competitors are doing, but maximise that time and launch something worth your while, not just because everyone else is doing it.

4. Always aim to IMPROVE yourself.

The functional food products I’ve created for The Healthy Chef wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t  for my small network of experts that help and advise me along the way.

It’s so important to learn from people that you admire and respect, as there is always more to learn. I have three mentors, a medical professor, an accountant and a lawyer.

5. Have a PLAN and set GOALS.

In order to be successful, you need to know where you want to go. I set many goals some more achievable than others; it’s fun ticking them off the list!

It’s also equally important to schedule in a meeting with yourself every day. This is the time where you need to focus and recharge, whether it be going to the gym, a walk, sleeping in or meditation. Looking after my own health and making sure I’m doing everything possible to nurture my body the way it deserves is extremely important.

    Hi Thesesa
Thank you for sharing this. It was just what I needed to read. I do a small but growing business in the UK, and need a lot of encouragement right now. It can feel very hard sometimes to carry on. Thank you for your advice.
    Kindest Regards, Ineke
