STRESS BUSTER SMOOTHIE

I designed this smoothie recipe for myself and hubby due to our heavy work schedules. We needed some quick healthy nourishment that would energise and revitalise our minds and body. I love to create this antioxidant rich smoothie made with berries and other super-food ingredients, as they help support my adrenals and stabilise my energy level. Stress can keep cortisol levels in the blood elevated for longer, which in turn can affect metabolism, suppress thyroid function and increase abdominal fat. Hope you enjoy this delicious smoothie as much as we do!

WHAT’S GREAT ABOUT IT:

Basically this smoothie rocks! It provides sustained energy, supports the endocrine and immune systems and contributes to hormonal balance. Blueberries are a great source of potassium that helps to regulate muscle contraction and fluid balance. The rich colour from blueberries comes from anthocyanins, antioxidants which help to neutralise free radicals. Protein will aid in recovery, support your immune system and help stabilise hormones, which is great in times of stress.

ingredients (Serves 2)

150 g (1 cup) frozen  blueberries
1 small banana – ripe (see notes)
1 1/2 cups almond milk or your choice of milk
2 tablespoons Healthy Chef Protein
1 tablespoon Organic Superfood

method

  1. Combine all the ingredients into a high performance blender.
  2. Blend until extra smooth + creamy.
  3. Enjoy.
